Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan has said that Tottenham will spend this summer and that a new deal for Christian Eriksen must be a key part of this.
Talking on the Jim White Show (talkSPORT, Wednesday, 10am), the host posed the question of whether Tottenham should spend “over the odds” to sign Eriksen on a new deal this summer.
Jordan was unequivocal in his opinion. “They’ve got a new stadium, semi-finals of the Champions League…” Jordan said.
“The statement coming from Daniel Levy, and it will be supported by Joe Lewis, is that Tottenham are going to spend this summer, and Christian Eriksen should be a key component of that spending.”

Eriksen proved how valuable he is last night, pulling a goal out of nowhere to deliver three points that could yet prove crucial in Tottenham’s hunt for a Champions League spot. Brighton had been ugly but resolute in defence and they looked like getting a second consecutive 0-0 draw in their hunt for Premier League survival. Eriksen’s radar had been off all game but he pulled a beauty of a shot out when it mattered. Tottenham fans would love to keep him but it all comes down to how much money he wants. Jim White claimed they should pay him as much as Harry Kane but you need to look at the bigger picture and take into account how much Pochettino has to improve his squad. Sometimes it’s better to cash in on a valuable asset in order to fund a number of players who could take your team up to the next level.
