Daniel Levy has replicated Chelsea’s stance on Eden Hazard when it comes to trying to fend off Real Madrid’s interest in Tottenham star Christian Eriksen, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims that although Hazard will enter the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge in the summer, Chelsea have slapped a price-tag worth north of £100million on the Belgium international.

It is understood that Spurs have adopted a similar approach with Eriksen, whose deal also expires in 2020, and are demanding that Real Madrid stump up £130million for the playmaker’s signature.

The Mail adds that Levy’s hardline approach to transfers has given him a “feared reputation” and is making clubs across Europe think twice before approaching Tottenham for any of their key players.

OPINION

It is all well and good that Levy has slapped a huge price-tag on Eriksen’s head, but he needs to be careful that he doesn’t run the risk of losing the Denmark international on a free transfer in the summer of 2020 once his contract expires. Clubs from around Europe will be able to agree a pre-contract with Eriksen as early as January, so if Levy is going to go down this route of fending off Real Madrid’s interest then he needs to be certain that the midfielder will pen a new deal. If not then it could be a massive hit for Spurs because they could definitely bag around £100million for Eriksen. Although it has been great to see, it does not help that the Dane has hit a purple patch of form in the last few weeks. He scored the last minute winner against Brighton on Tuesday night and that is bound to have Real Madrid even more interested in signing him.
