Interim Celtic manager Neil Lennon has caught the eye of Fulham owner Shahid Khan as a potential replacement for Scott Parker at Craven Cottage this summer, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper claim on their website that the billionaire owner of the Premier League outfit is looking at possible managers to take caretaker boss Parker’s place in the summer, with the club destined for a return to the Championship, and that he and the rest of the Cottagers’ board have set sights on Lennon.

It is stated that the Northern Irishman would be open to a return to England, having already managed at Bolton Wanderers, this summer if he is not handed the role at Celtic Park full time, with his current deal only running until the end of the season.

Opinion

Fulham are an ambitious club, their spending last summer shows that, and it seems as though Parker might not have done enough to convince the Cottagers that he is the right man to lead them forward when they drop down into the second tier. With plenty riding on making an immediate return back to the top flight, it is understandable why they are looking for a more experienced head to take charge and Lennon, having managed in England with Bolton as well as north of the border, ticks that particular box. The fact he is battling it out for a league title once again shows he knows how to handle the pressure of not only being favourites but how to lead a club at the top of the table, which is where Fulham will be aiming to be in 12 months. His record with Bolton was nothing special but then again that was at a club strapped for cash. With Khan and his billions of pounds above whoever takes the role at Fulham, it would be a completely different situation for Lennon were he to take on the role.
