Kemar Roofe has sent a message to Leeds fans after the defeats to Wigan and Brentford have threatened to derail their season.

Automatic promotion is now only a slim hope, with Leeds three points behind Sheffield United with two games to play. Sheffield United have a much better goal difference too and one win will consign Leeds to the play-offs.

Roofe said, “The past five days have hurt a lot but we don’t have time to feel sorry for ourselves… we still need to achieve what we set out for! We haven’t come this far to give up now!”

OPINION

This is exactly what Leeds fans need to hear now. Promotion is still effectively in their hands even though they’re probably going to have to do it through the play-offs. Somehow Leeds need to find a way to get back to their ruthless best and get past teams that they’ve already beaten this season. Leeds, at their best, are more than a match for anyone in the Championship and although the past five days have been crushing, they need to pick themselves up and go again. Leeds fans can help them with this, getting behind them like they’ve done all season. There are plenty of fans that would like to see Kemar Roofe back in the starting line-up too, after being sat on the subs bench since returning from injury. Patrick Bamford has been hit and miss, although Roofe hasn’t looked back to his best yet when he’s made it onto the pitch.
