COMMENTARY
Tottenham might not have managed to stick the ball into the back of Brighton’s net in the first half on Tuesday evening but it was not for a lack of trying. The Lilywhites were all over the Seagulls from the very first minute and only a resolute defensive performance from the visitors to north London kept Mauricio Pochettino’s men at bay. Of those in white trying to make their way through the south coast outfit, it was left back Danny Rose who blew the Spurs supporters away, putting in an attacking performance reminiscent of his very best form for the club. He was a constant threat to the Brighton back line, using his pace to burn past his defensive rivals, and it was clear that Pochettino’s men wanted to use the English full back as an outlet for their forward raids. He might not have helped the club find the goal but he was a standout performer and you can understand why the Tottenham faithful were so happy to see him back to his marauding best.
