OPINION
Scotland fans were left feeling sick and stunned in equal measure as the national team went 2-0 down today to the team ranked 117 in the world in their first Euro 2020 qualifier. Yuriy Pertsukh broke the deadlock for Kazakhstan after six minutes by killing a lofted ball with lovely touch before smashing a shot beyond Scott Bain from 18 yards. Incredibly, the hosts were 2-0 up three minutes later as Yan Vorogovskiy ran in behind a sleeping Graeme Shinnie to poke in a wonderful pass from Islambek Kuat. It was desperate, desperate stuff from Alex McLeish’s side. By half-time the deficit was still 2-0, a remarkable scoreline that threatens one of the greatest upsets in Scotland’s history. Many fans were pointing the finger at the contribution of Bain in goal. The Celtic number one was given the nod to start after Rangers’ ace Allan McGregor announced his retirement before the squad announcement. Things could not have gone any worse for Bain, and the Tartan Army were fuming.

Kazakhstan 2-0 Scotland (10) – Kuat's pass released Vorogskiy behind Shinnie, before he tucks past Bain. I'm stunned.

Or too many diddy players playing? Scott Bain nowhere near good enough. Neither is McKenna or Shinnie at left back.
