Ask any Everton fan what the main problem has been this season and they will no doubt mention their options up front – something Newcastle United and West Brom have not had too much trouble with.

While the Toffees have had trouble getting goals out of Cenk Tosun and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, the Magpies have been enjoying Salomon Rondon’s efforts up top and the Baggies would be struggling without Dwight Gayle’s strikes this season – a loan swap which has worked wonders for both clubs.

An upgrade is definitely needed at Goodison Park and so it should come as no surprise to see Marco Silva’s side linked with a move for Rondon by the Daily Star.

With a £16million asking price on his head at the Hawthorns, the 29-year-old has proven his worth as a Premier League hitman this season, using his power and work rate to cause opposition defences serious problems under Rafael Benitez at Newcastle.

He is exactly what Everton have been missing not only this season but since Romelu Lukaku left Merseyside for Manchester United and while he might be no spring chicken he still has plenty in the tank to get Everton the goals they are desperately looking for.

His price tag could prove to be a real steal if Everton capitalise on it and he would get Goodison bouncing with his performances – something Tosun has failed to do in his year and a half in Liverpool.
