OPINION
Hugo Lloris was in ridiculously good form for Tottenham in the first-half of their 1-0 win against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night. The France international had little to do after the half-time break when Harry Kane’s goal effectively killed off the tie, but it was still understandable to see so many Spurs fans gushing over the goalkeeper for his performance. If Lloris wasn’t so solid in the first-half then Dortmund would have been a lot more menacing in the second-half. Lloris’ countless good saves in the first 45 minutes prevented that and ended up being what won the tie, even more so than Kane’s goal. The French shot-stopper has been widely-criticised for some of his performances this season, but he showed on Tuesday night why he is Mauricio Pochettino’s number one. Paulo Gazzaniga is a good goalkeeper too but he would not have made the saves that Lloris did in that first-half.
