Wayne Rooney tweeted a blue heart at Everton’s official Twitter account after they shared a clip showing the atmosphere from Sunday’s clash against Liverpool.

The former Toffees attacker posted the wordless message in response to the club’s Twitter account claiming that Goodison Park was at its finest during the 0-0 draw with the Reds.

The Toffees’ Twitter account urged fans to watch the video with sound on as it was guaranteed to give them goosebumps upon watching.

OPINION

Rooney’s message may be short and sweet but it’s clear that he is showing that the Toffees are still in his heart. The 33-year-old forward is playing his football in the MLS with D.C United currently but there’s no denying that he is no doubting keeping tabs on Marco Silva’s side. The Toffees may not have been impressive from an attacking sense against Liverpool on Sunday but achieving a 0-0 draw was impressive. Jurgen Klopp’s side have been brushing teams aside this season to be genuine contenders for the Premier League title, and the Toffees had to dig deep in order to earn a draw. Silva’s side showed the physical side of their game and worked extremely hard to keep the Reds at bay. Given that the Toffees’ form hasn’t been fantastic in recent weeks, hopefully earning a point in the latest Merseyside derby will be something they can use as a foundation to build on. However if their form doesn’t pick up, Toffees supporters will no doubt be thrilled they may have hurt Liverpool’s chances of winning the Premier League.
