Rangers fans are starting to get excited about the potential signing of Jack Hastie. Friday night’s 1-1 draw against Hibernian further demonstrated the need for improvements to Steven Gerrard’s squad, particularly in the attacking areas behind main man Alfredo Morelos. According to Sky Sports, Rangers are close to signing Motherwell attacker Hastie and may finalise the terms of a deal within days. The deal would not be a free transfer, even though the 20-year-old’s contract at Fir Park expires in the summer. Given that he has been on ‘Well’s books since he was 10, Rangers would have to pay a significant compensation fee to their SPL rivals for the youngster’s development costs. Nevertheless, the talent demonstrated by Hastie since returning to his parent club at the turn of the year – his pace, mobility and directness – is getting Bears excited and they believe he can add a new dimension to their side next season.
