Rangers will be boosted by the fact attacker Alfredo Morelos has made the latest Colombia squad even if it could have a negative knock-on effect on his preparation for the clash with Celtic.

Carlos Queiroz’s first Colombia squad was revealed on Monday via a video on the national team’s official Twitter account and the Gers forward made the cut.

Morelos will no doubt have received a confidence boost by making the cut and now knows that if he delivers the goods for Rangers, he will reap the rewards by being involved with Colombia.

This will see the forward continue to go all out for Steven Gerrard’s side and perhaps be extra motivated as he knows that his efforts aren’t going to waste.

However despite it potentially boosting Rangers’ cause as Morelos will have an added incentive, there is reportedly a disruption facing the key player ahead of the clash with Celtic now he is involved with his nation.

The Daily Record reported that Morelos may line up for Colombia against South Korea in Seoul on March 26 which means he faces a 5,371 miles journey back to Scotland just five days before the Old Firm derby.

The newspaper explains how the exhausting journey with have a knock-on effect for the Gers as the player’s pre-game preparation will be effected, but Gerrard won’t lose sleep over that.

While it is a annoyingly long journey, five days is adequate amount of time for Morelos to recover and if his spell away with his nation goes well he may be even more fired up when facing Celtic.

Therefore when you consider all that, the Gers and its fans should be thrilled Morelos is in the latest Colombia squad as it can only spell good news.
