OPINION
Leeds fans were on tenterhooks on Monday, sweating on the fitness of striker Patrick Bamford at the start of one of the most important weeks in their season. Leeds play Reading on Tuesday night and then automatic promotion rivals Sheffield United in a week that could define their season and promotion hopes. Bamford hobbled out of the 1-0 win against Bristol City after colliding with the post scoring the only goal of the game in the first-half. Today’s news came as a big relief – Bamford was declared fit and will play against Reading tomorrow.
The news was reported by Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Phil Hay from the Leeds press conference which took place on Monday lunchtime. And there was more, with Kalvin Phillips also declared fit after twisting his ankle on Saturday. And Leeds fans were absolutely thrilled with the news. Not surprising when you consider the injuries they’ve had to put up with this season, including current top-scorer Kemar Roofe. Losing their second striker would have been a very bitter pill to swallow.
will be the same line-up and same bench against Reading, so no issue with Kalvin Phillips either. #lufc
