On loan Rangers midfielder Steven Davis has not had much luck at Ibrox since his arrival, has he?

Many supporters were no doubt excited to see the veteran return to the club for his second spell, and many would have thought that he would be a serious contender to be on the teamsheet on a regular basis.

However, fast forward to now, and you could not have a more different outlook for the 34-year-old. He has made nine appearances in total since January, the majority of those being from the bench – and the majority of them being woeful displays from Davis.

Whenever he has stepped on the pitch for the Gers this season, his inability to get into the game is startling and it no doubt makes you question the thinking behind bringing him back to Scotland.

He has not shown the experience that no doubt caught the attention of boss Steven Gerrard in the first place and this is no doubt a cause for concern for him personally, as there does not seem to be any way back into the starting XI by the looks of things.

Yet another undroppable display from teammate Ryan Jack has condemned Davis to the fringes of the team and the possibility of him playing again during his loan spell looks very bleak indeed.

The only way he would get into the team now is if one of Gerrard’s preferred options got injured, so it is safe to say that he has been left out in the cold from here on out.

That is a shame, as many fans obviously wanted Davis to do well at Rangers due to his lack of game time at Southampton – but Friday was another week that passed where he did not make the team.

There is only so long that this is going to go on for, but at the moment Davis’ future at the club looks dead and buried.
