Rangers could be without Ryan Jack in their clash against Hibernian on Friday, according to STV journalist Raman Bhardwaj.

The reporter claimed via his personal Twitter account on Wednesday night that Jack, 27, is a doubt for the Gers’ trip to Easter Road this week due to a bruised bone on his foot.

It is understood that the midfielder has undergone scans, and thankfully there is no break.

OPINION

It will be a major blow for Steven Gerrard if Jack is unavailable to play against Hibernian, but while he is reportedly a doubt for this week’s action, at least his scan has shown that there is nothing too serious for the ex-Aberdeen captain. Jack has been superb for Rangers lately. He was not at his best on his return to Pittodrie last week, but overall, you cannot understate how key the 27-year-old has been for the Gers. Jack has made 36 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring three goals and supplying three assists from the deeper-lying midfield positions. He is one of the best in the Scottish Premiership at what he does and Gerrard will more than likely have to play Steven Davis to replace him. Davis has not been great since returning to Ibrox from Southampton in January. However Jack’s spell on the sidelines could be the chance that Davis needs to step up his game.
