Matt Le Tissier has apologised for underestimating Wolves and their strength in depth.

Wanderers took Cardiff City apart last weekend despite making a raft of changes, and Sky pundit Le Tissier has admitted that he did not expect such a strong performance.

Speaking on Soccer Saturday (Saturday March 9th, 12pm, Sky Sports News), the former Saints man said: “The football they played was terrific.

“I probably underestimated the strength of Wolves’ squad to be honest, and I apologise to all Wolves fans for that.

“Wolves were by far the better team.”

OPINION

Wolves continue to upset the apple cart, and with every passing week, they look more and more like a proper Premier League outfit. One of the main markers of a top side is the ability to make changes and still pick up results, and against Cardiff, Wanderers proved that they are capable of doing just that. This season has been a high in the recent history of the club, but their next campaign will be the one that defines them. Will they kick on and become a serious contender for European football year after year, or will they sink like a stone and end up back where they started? Honestly, the way they are playing, the way that they conduct themselves, and the ambition they have shown, there is no reason to believe that they shouldn’t really push on from here and make a real go of life in the top flight. This could be the beginning off something big at Wolves.
