Tottenham are in the hunt to sign West Brom midfielder Rekeem Harper, according to the Express & Star.

The newspaper claims that the 19-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season and the Baggies board have held talks with his representatives this week in a bid to get him tied down to a new deal.

Harper has had a breakthrough season with West Brom in the Championship this season, becoming a key player in Darren Moore’s midfield over the last few weeks.

Good move for Tottenham?

Due to Harper’s contract situation, it is definitely worth Tottenham’s time in trying to sign the 6ft 2 (West Brom’s official website) midfielder in the summer.

Harper is not yet the finished product but he is a very exciting young player who definitely has the potential to play in the Premier League in the future.

He might not get to the stage where he is playing regularly for a top-six club, but the midfielder would be a very good investment for Tottenham and Daniel Levy would surely be happy to pick up a player like that.

Likely to happen?

It seems as though it all depends on whether West Brom can agree a new contract with the teenager.

The Express & Star reports that recent talks have gone well, but with Albion’s automatic promotion chances diminishing by the week, there could be a chance that Harper wants to see out the season before making a decision.

Tottenham might be able to sign the England Under-19 international if West Brom fail to go up.
