Everton defender Michael Keane has been included in Robbie Savage’s Premier League Team of the Week.

The 26-year-old star produced an excellent block to deny Mo Salah in the 0-0 draw against Liverpool on Sunday, and for the majority of this season, he has kept the likes of summer signing Yerry Mina out of the team.

Keane – who is on £60,000-a-week [Spotrac] – joins the likes of the Reds’ Virgil Van Dijk and Chelsea midfielder Jorginho in the BT Sport pundit’s line up.

He has mounted up 26 appearances in the league this season, scoring one goal and contributing two assists in the process.

OPINION

Keane has been in topsy turvy form so far this term, but recently he has come into his own and has shown exactly why he is one of the first names on Marco Silva’s teamsheet every week. Mina is no doubt getting frustrated about lack of game time at the moment, but that cannot be helped if Keane is playing out of his skin on a regular basis. He thoroughly deserves to be included in this Team of the Week, as his contribution to the Merseyside derby was invaluable for the Toffees and getting a point against the Reds. His first season at Everton was not the best, but this season has proved that time is a precious thing when it comes to improving as a player. It is hard to envision him being dropped any time soon – even with the likes of Phil Jagielka and Mina waiting in the wings.
