Olympiakos are in the hunt to sign Nottingham Forest midfielder Claudio Yacob, according to Sportime.

The Greek news outlet claims that Yacob, 31, features on a list of players that the Athens club wants to snap up in the summer transfer window amid doubts about the future of their midfielder Bibras Natkho.

Yacob has only made 14 appearances in all competitions since joining Forest on a free transfer earlier this season following his release from West Brom.

OPINION

Yacob has struggled to play regularly since joining Forest last year, so it would definitely be a good move for all parties involved if the Reds were to let him leave for Olympiakos in the summer. Martin O’Neill has hardly played Yacob since taking the reins at the City Ground so it definitely seems like it might be the right time for the ex-Argentina international to move on. It is a shame that it has not worked out for Yacob at Nottingham Forest. He is treated as a modern-day legend by West Brom supporters and Forest fans surely hoped that he would become a cult hero of their own when he joined on a free transfer in September 2018. However it wasn’t to be and if anything, it’s been a bit of a waste of money signing the defensive midfielder. Olympiakos would be a good team for Yacob to join in the summer. They have a good chance of winning silverware in the Greek Super League and the Argentine might get a long-awaited taste of European competition.
