Rangers are without a win in three games and Steven Gerrard has revealed that he plans to make changes to his team ahead of their clash against Kilmarnock at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon.

Gerrard could do with making changes pretty much all over his starting line-up, and one player who should be handed a return to the attack is Glenn Middleton, who has barely featured in 2019.

The 19-year-old has made just eight starts in all competitions for Rangers this season, and has only made two appearances off the bench since action resumed after the winter break.

It is hard to tell why Gerrard has completely axed Middleton from his first team plans, but the Rangers boss needs to unleash the teenager in the coming weeks in a bit to spark some life back into the attack.

Daniel Candeias’ form has been quite poor and it is about time that the Portuguese winger is axed from Gerrard’s line-up to be replaced by Middleton.

Gerrard can then name a more flexible pair of wingers in Ryan Kent and Middleton, who can both swap around and play on either flank to bamboozle defenders and create opportunities for Alfredo Morelos in the middle.

Middleton has a game-changing ability about him and his influence off the bench has perhaps been greater than when he has started games.

However with results not being so good at the moment, it’s a risk that Gerrard should definitely think about making.

It’s not like the Rangers fans will object to seeing one of their most promising talents return to the starting line-up.

Middleton is the only fringe player at Ibrox who would get the crowd on it’s feet, and hopefully we see him back in action on Saturday when Rangers take on Steve Clarke’s Kilmarnock.
