OPINION

It seems that Vakoun Issouf Bayo is ready to start banging them in for Neil Lennon’s first team after a productive afternoon playing for the Celtic reserves on Tuesday. Bayo, 22, joined the Hoops from Dunajska Streda in the January transfer window but has only mustered one minute of playing time in the senior squad so far. He was named in the reserves’ starting line-up to play against Dundee in Forfar on Tuesday, and managed to bag himself his first goal in green and white hoops. Many Celtic fans were understandably happy for the Ivorian striker, even though he was only scoring in the reserves. It doesn’t matter who strikers score goals against, it means that they are showing the kind of form that is required. Bayo will get a major boost from scoring that goal and making the net ripple for the first time in Scotland and hopefully he can translate that into the first team soon enough. It would be better for everyone if Lennon didn’t lean so much on loan signings and give rarely-seen players like Bayo more of a chance.
