Chris Sutton fumed over Alan Power’s challenge on Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack in the Gers’ 0-0 draw with Kilmarnock.

The well-known pundit shared that the flashpoint during the Gers’ latest match was worth two red cards as Power’s foul on Jack was disgraceful and brutal.

Sutton angrily asked how the referee could not deem that a challenge that endangered an opponent and directly said that the Kilmarnock midfielder should have been sent off.

“I think it’s yellow no I don’t, I think it’s two reds,” said the pundit on Premier Sports, as seen in a clip on the broadcaster’s Twitter account.

“How is that not endangering an opponent? It’s brutal he should have been off, that’s a disgraceful challenge.”

OPINION

How Power only received a yellow card after his foot collided with Jack’s face during Rangers’ disappointing draw is baffling. The Kilmarnock midfielder may not have meant to go foot first into the Gers midfielder, but that’s no excuse. Power’s foot was dangerously too high and he really did endanger Jack with the challenge. It’s no surprise that Sutton believes the incident was worth two reds for Power as it’s hard to argue with him, as it was an unsavoury sight. While the Rangers midfielder escaped unharmed, it could have been much worse on another day. A lot has been made of Rangers’ disciplinary record as of late due to Alfredo Morelos getting sent off against Aberdeen recently, but it seems the Gers should be the ones calling for action after witnessing Power only get a yellow. It’ll be interesting to see if Power gets hit with a retrospective ban as his actions in the 0-0 draw with Rangers on Saturday definitely warrants one.
