Jim White sent a direct message to the Rangers fans who chose to abuse Kilmarnock manager Steve Clarke at Ibrox on Wednesday night.

The Killie boss opened up about the abuse he received during his side’s 5-0 loss to the Gers, as quoted by the BBC, and White addressed the remarks on his show.

The talkSPORT host didn’t target all Gers fans and pointed out that he was only talking to those that Clarke was referring to, before asking them to join everyone else in the modern age.

“The man I know well, launching a no-holds-barred attack on some Rangers fans after being targeted for sectarian abuse at Ibrox in Glasgow last night,” said White on talkSPORT (10:05am, Monday February 21st).

“To the morons who abused Steve Clarke, we’re all in February 2019, why don’t you come and join us here?”

OPINION

White may not have embarked on a long rant over Clarke’s remarks, but his statement is short, sweet, and to the point. The talkSPORT host’s remarks are also rather cutting and should result in any fan who dishes out such abuse, taking a long hard look at themselves. The Gers won 5-0 last night and while the mood should be positive around Ibrox as a result, Clarke’s remarks have overshadowed the emphatic victory. In fact you feel that the Killie’s boss comments will be discussed a lot over the coming weeks and he’s clearly highlighted an issue that not only Rangers have to address, but one that the whole of Scottish football needs to come together around. There’s no room in the game for any abuse, but the sort of stuff that Steve Clarke was talking about needs weeding out now. The issue might centre around Rangers at the moment but they’re not the only club that suffer from this problem and if the fans can’t sort it out themselves, and no one is really under any illusion that they will, stronger action needs to be taken.
