Rangers signing Glen Kamara has made two appearances for the club since he arrived in January from Dundee for £50,000, and it is safe to say that he has thoroughly impressed already.

He played against St Johnstone last weekend as well as starring in the 5-0 rout of Kilmarnock on Wednesday, two performances that definitely bode well for his future at Ibrox.

Derek Johnstone previously admitted that he was slightly sceptical of the Gers signing Kamara last month, but he has now changed his stance and said he was wrong about the 23-year-old.

“I have to admit that I wasn’t all for Rangers paying Dundee £50,000 to do a deal for Glen Kamara before the end of the January transfer window. But I have been really impressed with him in his two performances against St Johnstone and Kilmarnock and I thought he was outstanding the other night at Ibrox,” he said in his Evening Times column.

“He certainly looks worth the outlay. I was wrong. The midfield played a key part in that. Scott Arfield and Ryan Jack were excellent, but Kamara was outstanding for Rangers. He covered every blade of grass and ran over the top of Youssouf Mulumbu. I am sure there will be plenty more to come.”

If these comments are anything to go by, it looks like boss Steven Gerrard has unearthed a gem in the shape of Kamara – and he will certainly be licking his lips that the club only paid £50,000 to sign him.

That figure looks like a bargain based on the impact Kamara has made in his last two outings, and there is no doubt that he will continue to impress the more chances Gerrard gives him.

The fact that Johnstone believes that he was better than Arfield and Jack on Wednesday is quite the compliment to receive – and it is exciting that he has even more to give seeing as he is only 23.

The young ace was a player who stood out against St Johnstone last weekend, and that surely shows the talent he has seeing as the whole team were rather disappointing.

Either way, Gerrard has a future Rangers star in the making on his hands, and he should pat himself on the back for unearthing such a player.
