Celtic are braced for bids from Leicester City for star duo Callum McGregor and James Forrest, according to the Times.

The newspaper claim new Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers is planning to immediately raid the club he quit on Tuesday for £15million-valued midfielder McGregor and £10million-valued winger Forrest.

The Times report Rodgers is a big admirer of the pair and is also a fan of a third Hoops academy product in Kieran Tierney, but he believes the left-back would benefit from another season in Scotland.

OPINION

Rodgers has already considerably tarnished his Celtic legacy by quitting for Leicester with three months of the season remaining and all to play for at Parkhead, while seemingly little to play for at the King Power Stadium. The northern Irishman would do best to avoid Glasgow altogether if he plunders Celtic for their two outstanding players this season, McGregor and Forrest. Tierney, the third first teamer who has come through the ranks to establish himself as a cornerstone of the side that dominated Scottish football under Rodgers, lags only narrowly behind his fellow internationals in terms of his 2018-19 influence. McGregor has been outstanding, particularly in the central midfield role he has made his own following the up-and-down form of Scott Brown and Olivier Ntcham. Forrest’s vim and vigour out wide, whether as a forward or even in a wing-back role, make him the other Celtic player best able to challenge Rangers star Alfredo Morelos for the player-of-the-year gong.
