OPINION
Newcastle United fans love nothing more than a local boy done good, and right now they must be buzzing over how well young Sean Longstaff is playing. The academy graduate has come into the side since the turn of the year and has been an absolute revelation – and seems to get better and better every week. Commanding, positive, calm on the ball; the 21-year-old is everything you could possibly want from a midfielder, and surely has a massive future ahead of him. Against Huddersfield Town during the first half on Saturday, Longstaff was imperious again, striding across the turf at St. James’ Park like he owned the place. Toon supporters will be thrilled to see his confidence grow game after game, and if he continues in this stead, it won’t be long before they give him the armband. He has all the qualities and potential needed to become a firm favourite for Newcastle, and if he kicks on as he promises to, he could be a player who is talked about for years to come too. Longstaff is a special talent who has been remarkable this season, and the only question must be as to why he hasn’t been given a run before now?

Longstaff just appears out of nowhere so often to nick the ball of someone. I love his effort so much

By the looks of it, Almiron could potentially be the only challenger for Longstaff for the Ballon D'or next year! #NEWHUD #NUFC
