COMMENTARY
Many Aston Villa fans despaired on social media after Alan Hutton was substituted due to sustaining an injury in the opening five minutes of Saturday’s clash with Stoke City. The Villans official Twitter account confirmed that injury was what forced Dean Smith to swap Hutton with Albert Adomah and it’s fair to say supporters didn’t take the news well. They probably were particularly inconsolable due to the fact that Stoke City took full advantage of Hutton having to leave the field for treatment ahead of officially being withdrawn, as Sam Vokes scored for them to put them 1-0 up when the Villans only had 10 men on the pitch. It’s says so much about how low morale is among some Aston Villa supporters currently as usually they’d enjoy seeing Hutton not feature for them. The veteran defender has often been highlighted as his side’s weak link this season, and criticised heavily as a result. However based on the reaction below, it seems Villans fans are worried about him not being available for the rest of the clash with Stoke City and future matches.
