OPINION
There are few players in the Premier League who have endured as remarkable and sudden a decline as Jorginho has this season. When the midfielder was signed by Chelsea from Napoli over the summer, anticipation was high, and initial performances suggested that Blues fans had every right to be raving over him. Here was an intelligent, progressive passer of a football who had the ability and vision to unlock defences with the merest swoop of his boot. Since then, however, things have been far from easy for the Italian playmaker. Quite simply, he has been found out, and now spends most of his time playing sideways passes generally frustrating fans. The one strength in his game, his passing ability, has been dulled and stifled, and without that facet of his game, he looks largely ineffective. The main bone of contention that many supporters have is that he fails to offer the same defensive solidity as N’golo Kante, and watching the first half of the Carabao Cup final you could see why they get so irritated. Jorginho provided little in the way of anything meaningful, and ultimately, fans must be wondering what he has to do to get dropped.

Jorginho is literally hiding behind City players at times when Chelsea are trying to play out from the back.
