Leeds United striker Kemar Roofe is facing weeks on the sidelines as he looks to return to action some time in March after the club confirmed he had picked up ligament damage in his knee, according to the Mirror’s David Anderson.

The reporter crucially claimed on his personal Twitter account, before giving more details on his story on the newspaper’s website, that the blow is not as bad as might have been feared and that he will be making a recovery over the next couple of weeks.

The club confirmed the forward’s setback on their official Twitter account but it appears as though he will almost certainly be back by the end of the season.

Opinion

Fans will have been sweating buckets over the status of Roofe and so to hear that he will be back sooner rather than later will be a huge weight off their shoulders. Of course losing any player is going to be a setback to what is already a paper thin squad at the disposal of Marcelo Bielsa but having seen the likes of Patrick Bamford forced onto the sidelines for months, he will be relieved to see that Roofe’s injury is not as bad as first feared. He has already played a big role in the Whites’ push for the Championship title and it would appear that he still has a part to play before the end of the season. Hopefully for the Elland Road faithful they do not suffer any more injury problems for they have already picked up more than their fair share of issues this season – any more could see their hopes of mounting a title push collapse quite dramatically.
