Aston Villa could play a blinder by snatching the services of Crawley Town defender David Sesay ahead of their Championship rivals West Bromwich Albion.

The Villans are in need of injecting some fresh blood into their team when it comes to both flanks of their defence as the likes of veterans Alan Hutton and Ahmed Elmohamady haven’t exactly wowed this season.

Dean Smith should be looking to the future and searching for a long-term fix when it comes to their full back issues in the summer and there are few more promising talents than Sesay for him to check out.

According to The Sun, a host of Championship sides are keen on the highly-rated 20-year-old flyer with the Baggies currently leading the race him.

The newspaper claim that Sesay, who is rated as being worth £350,000, has WBA manager Darren Moore keen to sign him with the Baggies searching for their own long-term fix for their defensive flanks.

Given that the 20-year-old has impressed in his 13 appearances for Crawley Town this season and can play as a left-back as well as right-back, he would be a very smart signing for the Villans to make.

Sesay hasn’t become in-demand by accident and given he could be a potential bargain, when you consider how much he is worth, then the Villans would be foolish not to attempt to get his signature.

Especially when you consider that the 20-year-old will likely jump at the chance to arrive at Villa Park given the fact that The Sun’s report believes he would be open to an exit from Crawley if a bigger club came in for him.

Also the Villans would benefit from signing a promising full-back who will only get better, signing Sesay would be particularly sweet given rivals West Brom’s interest in him.
