OPINION
Joe Worrall gifted Kilmarnock their equaliser as they brought Rangers fans back to earth with a 2-1 win sealed by Jordan Jones, who will swap Ibrox for Rugby Park at the end of the season. But Bears were hardly any more complimentary of Gareth McAuley, 38, than they were of Worrall on a night when Connor Goldson, the first choice centre-back, was badly missed. Nikola Katic’s reputation was only enhanced as McAuley and Worrall played like strangers who had turned up to the wrong place. Their chronic lack of understanding was almost as notable as the absence of pace, which provided so many opportunities for Killie counter-attacks. Rangers have brought experience and pedigree in bucket loads, most notably with the signings of Jermain Defoe and Steven Davis, debutants on Wednesday night, but the ‘Robocop’ display of ex-Premier League centre-back McAuley shows you need plenty of mobility in other areas to compensate. It’s a point plenty of Rangers fans were making.

Kent was our best player, you can’t tell me that worrall and mcauley shouldn’t do more to stop that. It’s criminal defending your taught from about 5 to stop them as high up as you can but we let teams get to our box before even thinking about pressuring them
