Celtic midfielder Scott Allan is being lined up for a return to Hibernian this January by manager Neil Lennon, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper claim on their website’s live blog (12:39) that the Hoops’ top flight rivals are keen on securing a move for the 27-year-old in the winter window after seeing Emerson Hyndman leave after his six month loan.

Allan has not featured once for the Bhoys this season, with just a handful of unused substitute appearances early on in the campaign, having spent the second half of last season on loan at Hibs.

Opinion

Allan has no future at Celtic Park and so a move away seems to be only a matter of time. He certainly seemed to have enjoyed his time at Hibs last season and has obviously done enough to have remained in the mind of Lennon as the manager targets a new midfield option. At 27-years-old he is hardly a spring chicken and really needs to get out of the Hoops and to a new club to reignite what has been a faltering career. The issue could be what sort of fee Celtic slap on his head, for anything out of Hibs’ price range could well leave him languishing in the Parkhead reserves until the summer. Brendan Rodgers cannot keep him from playing any longer and really should be green lighting his permanent exit sooner rather than later. It seems as though the Bhoys could well have a taker if they do.
