OPINION
No matter how Kieran Trippier plays, there always appears to be a number of Tottenham fans ripping him to shreds on Twitter, when it really isn’t necessary. He is not the best right-back in the world, but he has shown himself to be a much better option in that role that Serge Aurier, who just because he had a stunner against Tranmere, fans think he should be starting against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup. Trippier was not awful in the first-half against the Blues, by any means. He wasn’t amazing either, and that is because Chelsea have players that can hurt Spurs on the counter-attack, so he was playing a much more reserved role in the first-leg of the semi-final. Although Mauricio Pochettino rotates his full-backs regularly, you can expect Trippier to stay in the starting line-up to play against Manchester United on Sunday. Pochettino trusts him for these big games, and Spurs fans should too.
