Celtic have confirmed that they have reached an agreement to sign striker Vakoun Issouf Bayo.

The Hoops made the announcement that a deal had been struck via their official club website.

The Ivorian international moves to Glasgow on a four-year deal for a fee that the Daily Record believes to be in the region of £2 million.

The 21-year-old forward will sign from Slovakian side Dunajska Streda, and will complete his move subject to a medical and the approval of a work permit.

So far this season, Bayo has struck 18 goal sin 23 appearances in all competitions.

His signing follows confirmed deals for Oli Burke and Timothy Weah.

OPINION

Bayo’s strike rate speaks for itself, and if the Ivorian can recapture the kind of form that he has been showing in Slovakia, then the Bhoys all be confident that he can become an instant hit in Scotland. After Rangers made such a fierce start to the transfer window it was imperative that Celtic responded well, and with deals for Bayo, Oli Burke, and Timothy Weah, they have done just that. The one criticism thrown at Brendan Rodgers’ side too often during the first half of the season was that they lacked strength in depth in attack. That should longer be problem, and there’s no saying that they have stopped yet. To complete their business so early in the window is really impressive, and will be read as a statement of intent from their title rivals. It’s too early to tell, but for around £2 million, Bayo could prove to be one of the bargains of the season for the Hoops.
