Rangers are close to signing three new players after forward Jordan Jones and midfielder Glen Kamara completed medicals today (Friday), according to a reliable journalist.

Radio Clyde correspondent Alison Conroy reported on her personal Twitter account this afternoon that Kilmarnock’s Jones and Dundee’s Kamara have finished tests and confirmation they have agreed pre-contracts should come “later today or tomorrow”.

Conroy added that Bournemouth striker Jermain Defoe will complete an astonishing signing blitz when he undergoes an Ibrox medical tomorrow before flying out to the club’s winter training camp in Tenerife.

Wow. That was quick. Talk about a mad transfer rush from Rangers, as they aim to get much of their major January business done before Steven Gerrard takes his squad to Tenerife for warm weather training during the mid-season break. The Defoe deal came out of the blue yesterday and the Jones and Kamara signings have also been all but done without much in the way of speculation, even though Rangers’ interest in the Kilmarnock man has been well trailed in the past. It appears Jones and Kamara won’t be seen in a light blue jersey until next season, but credit to Rangers for getting the pair locked down. As for Defoe, that is the blockbuster deal for the here and now that is a gamechanger in the title race. The striker may be 36-year-old but he is a goal machine in great shape and with the hunger and attitude to seal a glittering career by spearheading Rangers’ push for 55.
