Rangers fans were already pretty excited, thank you very much.

The anticipation for the resumption of the Scottish season was already sky-high and the latest transfer update should now ensure Ibrox is fever pitch when the campaign gets back underway next Friday.

Rangers signed Glen Kamara on a pre-contract agreement last weekend as one of four early-January signings, although the 23-year-old would not be able to join until the summer when his contract expires.

A transfer twist means the central midfield enforcer is now 90 per cent likely to move to Ibrox six months ahead of schedule.

That would involve Rangers agreeing a fee with Dundee but, according to their manager Jim McIntyre, that possibility is very high.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, McIntyre sai of Kamara: “I think when a player signs a pre-contract, nine times out of 10 he would rather move on. Everybody is aware of that, discussions are ongoing.”

Den’s Park fans hoping to see the ex-Arsenal midfielder lead the charge for the remainder of the campaign will need to readjust their expectations.

It certainly makes sense from a Rangers point of view, as Kamara knows the SPL well, has been playing regularly and shouldn’t need huge amounts of adaptation.

Despite their excellent showing in the recent Old Firm win over Celtic, Rangers need a central midfield controller who can win the ball, make interceptions and launch attacks.

Kamara can be the player Bears hoped and expected Lassana Coulibaly would become following his early-season showings.

Given that the fee should be within Rangers’ reach, this could be an excellent deal for the title chasers that can give their fans even more reason to celebrate.
