Dwight Gayle will be fit to face Norwich City on Saturday after an absence through injury.

Matt Maher, of the Express and Star, confirmed through his personal Twitter account that the striker would be available for the weekend’s visit from the high-flying Canaries.

The 28-year-old has scored 13 goals in all competitions since joining the Baggies on loan from Newcastle in preseason, but has not featured since the 2-0 win over Wigan Athletic on Boxing Day.

Gayle has been included in training all week, however, and is expected to make some kind of appearance against Albion’s promotion rivals.

Maher tweeted: “Dwight Gayle has trained all week and is fit to face Norwich.”

OPINION

The Baggies needed a boost going into this game, and Gayle returning from injury is exactly the kind of positive news they would have been hoping for. With Harvey Barnes set to return to Leicester City following his wildly successful loan spell, West Brom have lost one of their most potent attacking threats and will be thankful to have top scorer Gayle back to bolster their ranks for a match that could be crucial in their chase for promotion. The Baggies have scored more goals than anybody else in the league so far this season, and will be hoping that their attacking verve will be enough to see them over the line against a Norwich City side who have not won in any competition since before Christmas. In a league that is so often scrappy and hard fought, one piece of magic can be all it takes to edge an encounter, and in Gayle, West Brom have their very own magician.
