Rangers are set to sign four new players in an astonishing early-January signing blitz after scheduling two more medicals, according to the Scotland Herald.

The newspaper claim the Light Blues will complete their first two captures of the transfer window when Jermain Defoe and Steven Davis put pen-to-paper on 18-month deals in the coming days after reaching agreements with the club.

Scotland Herald report the two big-name recruits from the Premier League are set to be imminently joined in Glasgow by Kilmarnock winger Jordan Jones, who closes in on a pre-contract agreement to join at the end of the season, and Dundee midfielder Glen Kamara.

OPINION

Wow. As if Rangers fans weren’t excited enough by the plum signings of goal machine Defoe and midfield general Davis, now it appears Steven Gerrard will be greeting two more proven performers at the Ibrox entrance door that is threatening to swing off its hinges given the level of early-January activity. The club don’t just have one eye on ending their eight-year title wait this season, they are also looking to the future and Jones will provide a much-needed attacking weapon when he arrives in the summer. Proven in the Scottish Premiership, his pace, mobility and directness will provide some firepower from out wide. As for Kamara, he is a midfield anchorman who has showed in the last two seasons how influential he can be in the SPL. He has ignited his career with a series of dominant performances in the centre and can immediately slot into a midfield that has been hit and miss in recent times.
