Liverpool attacker Rafael Camacho is set to complete a loan move to Sporting Lisbon next week, according to A Bola.

The Portugese publication claim the teenager, 18, has agreed the terms of a transfer and is expected to arrive following his club’s FA Cup tie against Wolves next Monday.

A Bola report terms have been agreed for Camacho to spend the rest of the season at Sporting, but an option purchase clause set at least £13.5million may be included in the deal.

Good move for Liverpool?

A loan deal makes sense, but the club must not sell Camacho on a permanent transfer either this month or when the loan expires in the summer. Six months of senior football at a high-level club is just what the exciting attacking midfielder needs at this stage of his career, and it is to be hoped that he will get the playing time that he needs. The word is that the young Portugese is a real talent and capable of establishing himself in the Liverpool team in the future. He has demonstrated for the club’s youth teams this season, for whom he has scored seven goals and supplied eight assists from 15 matches, that he has a big future.

Likely to happen?

It appears this deal will be completed in the immediate wake of Liverpool’s FA Cup clash against Wolves at Molineux, a match in which Jurgen Klopp is expected to select his second string and could name Camacho in his starting line-up. The Lisbon-born youngster graduated from the Sporting academy ranks before joining Manchester City, and then, Liverpool, in his early teens and appears to have given the nod to returning to his homeland.
