Celtic need to boost their firepower in January and there maybe few better options available for such a reasonable price than Exeter City forward Jayden Stockley.

According to the Daily Record the 25-year-old has a release clause in his contract that could see him purchased for £750,000 in January and this makes him a bargain when you consider his current form.

As the BBC point out while relaying the fact that Exeter have confirmed several English sides have triggered the forward’s release clause, Stockley has scored a whopping 29 goals in 2018.

It seems that the forward has found his clinical goalscoring ability in the year just gone and there’s no reason to suggest that his prolific form couldn’t continue if Celtic secured his services.

Stockley previously featured for Aberdeen, as he spent his 2016/17 campaign on loan with them, and only managed to score six goals in 42 outings.

However it’s worth noting the forward’s spell at Aberdeen was a good one that benefited the club as well as the player, but he just couldn’t get amongst the goals often enough.

Yet it seems that the 25-year-old has improved and looks a much-more confident player who could be a prolific force in Scotland if at the right team.

Given the wealth a talent that Celtic have that would create opportunities for Stockley, it’s easy that to imagine him being a regular scorer if recruited.

It may be a gamble to sign a player that previously wasn’t prolific in Scotland to boost Brendan Rodgers’ firepower but when you consider that his price tag is a bargain when you think about his 2018 form, and that he knows the division which will see him settle quicker, it’s one worth taking for Celtic.
