Wolves joined Everton in making contact over signing RB Leipzig forward Jean-Kevin Augustin, according to The Sun.

The national newspaper claim that both Premier League clubs have reached out about signing the pacey 21-year-old, with the Toffees making contact last month, and that Southampton are also keen on adding the attacker to their squad.

The Sun report Leipzig will not stand in Augustin’s way if he wants to exit as he isn’t a regular starter in the Bundesliga for them this season, but they will only sanction his sale if someone meets his £38million price tag.

Good Move for Wolves?

Yes.

Augustin’s goalscoring form this season and in his 2017/18 campaign suggest he is just the person needed to bolster Wolves’ attack.

The 21-year-old has managed eight goals in 24 appearances this season despite his playing time being inconsistent so that’s impressive and last season he was involved in 18 goals in the 37 outings he made.

Augustin scored 12, while assisting six, and given the power as well as pace he possesses he could be a sensation in the Premier League.

While £38million is a lot of money to invest in a player, given his age, credentials and the big impact he could make in the second half of the season; it’s price well worth Wolves paying.

Likely to happen?

It seems Wolves and Everton are set for intense battle over Augustin’s services and it’s one that is too hard to call, then again who knows if Southampton will suddenly spring into life during this race, to make it even more difficult to predict the 21-year-old’s next club.

While it’s unclear which Premier League side will win his service, a move to England’s top-flight definitely looks on the cards for him as according to The Sun’s report he’d jump at the chance to make a name for himself in the division.

This does mean that Wolves, Everton and Southampton all have an advantage over Valencia who are thought to be tempting to lure him to Spain.
