Goalkeeper Dimitar Sheytanov has dropped a big hint on Instagram he is joining Aston Villa.

The Bulgarian shot-stopper, 19, posted a message from Villa’s Bodymoor Heath training ground earlier today (Wednesday) in which he was pictured with Villa assistant manager John Terry.

Sheytanov, who is out of contract after allowing his contract with Levski Sofia to expire, revealed he had held talks with Terry and received advice from “one of the best players in England ever”.

OPINION

It appears only a matter of time before Sheytanov is confirmed as Villa’s third signing of the January window following the captures of fellow goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic and defender Kortney Hause. Quite where the young Bulgarian will fit into the keeper set-up at the Midlands giants is something of a mystery. They already have half of team of goalies, led by new number one Kalinic and also including Orjan Nyland, Jed Steer, Andre Moreira, Mark Bunn and Matija Sarkic. This seems like overkill, even though the teenager is clearly regarded as one for the future rather than the here and now. Nyland is currently out with an achilles injury, but the likelihood is that Sheytanov has been signed to learn his trade in the Villa youth-team sides. He has the advantage of being young, talented and available. The young keeper is a free agent after running down his contract at previous club Levski Sofia.
