OPINION
With Aaron Cresswell out injured, Arthur Masuaku was restored to the West Ham starting XI after four games on the bench. It was a move that Manuel Pellegrini had little option but to make, yet it’s fair to say it did not reap dividends as the Irons slumped to a 3-0 defeat to Wolves at Molineux. Pellegrini admitted afterwards “it is impossible to play worse” and you will be hard pressed to find supporters willing to disagree with that conclusion. Fans were savage in their criticism of Masuaku, who was making his 20th appearance of the season in all competitions, 14 of which have been league starts. As they rightly pointed out, the left-back’s defending left an awful lot to be desired. Nothing new there. The 25-year-old is a threat going forward and offers penetration of the overlap. The problem is he just doesn’t cut the mustard when it comes to positioning, marking and interceptions, the key roles of any left-back. Masuaku will do very well not to be axed after a display that left fans seething.

Ogbanna was decent once but he resembles rotten fruit nowadays. Obiang with his freak but fantastic volley against Toxic and that’s all. Don’t get me started on Masuaku on the art of defending. We also need to bin Carroll immediately. He’s toast!

Adrian, Ogbonna, Masuaku, Obiang, Arnautovic, Hernandez, Carroll.
All of these players are done at this club.

None of them seem interested. We’re lacking energy and creativity. MP needs to change something. He really should have looked at adding to the squad. We’re so short in midfield and defence. Ogbonna and Masuaku are just dreadful!

@WestHam_Central get rid of Masuaku and Ogbonna, they're not good enough, Wimbledon destroyed them so it's no shock that Wolves did it again tonight, they cannot start against Liverpool, Masuaku in particular, he is useless.
