Sky journalist Dharmesh Sheth claimed that the broadcaster have been told that the transfer plans of Tottenham won’t necessarily change due to Harry Kane being ruled until March.

The Sky Sports News presenter and host of the broadcaster’s TransferTalk podcast, as detailed on his official Twitter account, revealed that Spurs were aware that potential selling clubs could raise their prices due to knowing they are looking for a forward.

Sheth revealed that Spurs have earmarked Lucas Moura, Fernando Llorente and Erik Lamela as three players who can fill Kane’s position in the team while he is out injured.

“So at Tottenham, we’re told their transfer plans won’t necessarily changes now that Harry Kane is out until early March, the likes of Lucas Moura, Fernando Llorente and Erik Lamela have been earmarked to play his position, furthermore a potential selling club could raise their prices if they know Tottenham are in the market,” said Sheth on Sky Sports News (Tuesday January 15, 17:11).

OPINION

Spurs fans are no doubt still reeling from witnessing their club confirm via it’s official Twitter account that Kane is out till March, and Sky’s transfer update is just going to feel like a sucker punch. Mauricio Pochettino was desperately in need of adding another clinical forward to lighten the burden on Kane ahead of the 25-year-old getting injured, so it’s crazy that the London club aren’t going all out suffering this bad news regarding him. Spurs have done well to keep competing at the top end of the Premier League this season after not spending in the summer, but surely they should be investing in their squad in January. While you don’t want a club to run to the panic stations every time a set-back happens, you feel Spurs should be a little bit more as they should be worried and jumping into action following the Kane update. The forward has scored 20 goals in 31 outings this season and it’s hard to see Moura, Llorente and Lamela being able to replace the goals Kane supplies the team, no matter their talent.
