The news that no Tottenham fan wanted to hear broke on Tuesday evening, with star striker Harry Kane confirmed to be a long term injury absence.

The Englishman is of course Spurs’ top goal scorer this season and the only quality option at centre forward for Mauricio Pochettino, who has found himself plunged into a crisis up top with regular replacement Heung-min Son absent due to international duty with South Korea.

Two months out is a long time in football and with just Fernando Llorente to full the void there needs to be something done this month to try and alleviate the pressure on the Spaniard’s shoulders.

There will no doubt be frantic scenes in north London as the club look to find the solution but the man they need right now has seemingly already been on their radar.

Teamtalk reported back in September that the Lilywhites were scouting the talents of Genoa’s Krzysztof Piatek after his fine start to the season in Italy and the 23-year-old has not slowed down, scoring an astonishing 19 goals in 21 appearances across all competitions this season.

A prolific hitman in an age bracket which means he is only going to go up in value, the report from 2018 claimed that the Serie A outfit valued him at £30million and with his form, that price is not only warranted, but perhaps a little cheap.

Goals are the currency that Piatek deals in and while Tottenham fans are sweating over their season now, the Polish striker can have them forgetting about their struggles up front in no time.

Time for Levy to pull his finger out and get this deal back on the cards.
