OPINION
Tottenham beat their London rivals in the first-leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final at Wembley on Tuesday night but many fans were surprised at how badly Christian Eriksen played.
The game was decided by a Harry Kane penalty in the first-half but on the balance of play Chelsea probably shaded it and there’s everything to play for at Stamford Bridge in the second leg.
Eriksen wasn’t the only player who was off the pace at Wembley – Heung-min Son also came in for some criticism for his display – but the normally dependable attacker suffered the most on Twitter from fans.
Eriksen has been making the wrong headlines off the pitch at the moment as well, stalling over a new contract and raising speculation about his long-term future at Spurs amid reported interest from Real Madrid.
However, as one fan said after watching him play at Wembley, there’s “no danger of Madrid wanting Eriksen over Hazard, he’s been s***e”.
