OPINION
Kyle Walker was brilliant for Manchester City last season, and looked like the most impressive full back in the league at times. This time around, however, it continues to be a surprise when the English international is elected form the outset. Against Huddersfield, in a first half that posed City few problems, the defender looked sluggish and off the pace. It’s easy to criticise the 28-year-old when this around him are so good, but it does beg the question as to what has happened to him, with him struggling for form even against the smaller sides. With few other realistic options at right-back Walker continues to star on a regular basis, but is lacking in consistency and quality at the present moment. It’s not that Walker is poor, it’s just that he doesn’t look like a top level full-back at the moment, and while he was brilliant last season, it begs the question whether or not he is being found out a little this time around. Huddersfield did little to perturb the City defence, but better teams might in the future.
