Liverpool have joined Bayern Munich in the race to sign Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi this month, according to Bild.

The German newspaper claim officials from the Merseyside giants met with the teenager star and his agent brother Bradley at the beginning of this month.

Bild report Liverpool are very keen on the 18-year old and are willing to rival Bayern Munich for the rising star, who fourth-placed Premier League club Chelsea are keen to keep.

Good move for Liverpool?

Definitely. Hudson-Odoi is a brilliant young forward who is one of the outstanding players in his age group in Europe. It is a measure of his potential that Bayern have reportedly tabled four bids for him, the latest of which met Chelsea’s £35million valuation. Liverpool would pull off a spectacular coup if they beat Bayern to the signature of the teenage gem. The Merseysiders landed Dominic Solanke from Chelsea two summers ago, but Hudson-Odoi is in a completely different bracket in terms of potential and ability. He is another Jadon Sancho in the making.

Likely to happen?

The fact talks have already been initiated suggests this is certainly possible. Bayern have to be the favourites after submitting a string of bids. One thing is clear; Hudson-Odoi wants to leave. He has made just 14 first-team appearances for Chelsea, and his lack of opportunities is believed to be a factor in his desire to move to pastures news. With just 18 months remaining on his contract, the west Londoners are vulnerable to losing the exciting teenager.
