OPINION
A few feathers were ruffled when Marco Silva named Jonjoe Kenny in his starting XI to face Leicester on Tuesday, with some Toffees fans obviously of the belief that the youngster is not quite up to standard. However, fast forward until half-time and Kenny is the name on everyone’s lips, with the right-back putting in a brilliant display in the first 45 minutes against the Foxes. In truth, dropping captain Seamus Coleman was a decision which Silva needed to make, with the Republic of Ireland international struggling in recent weeks. Kenny has really stepped up to the plate in his absence, with the 21-year-old putting in an energetic and effective display in that first half. He was also unlucky to not open the scoring for the Toffees after he smashed the crossbar with a sweetly-struck effort on the 20-minute mark. Those Everton fans who slated him before kick-off are likely to have been silenced by his performance, and the reaction below illustrates his impact.
