Nottingham Forest want to complete a late January deal to sign Bolton attacker Sammy Ameobi, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claimed via their live transfer blog on Thursday [03:25pm] that Forest are interested in a late deadline day swoop for the 26-year-old, but cash-strapped Bolton want £4million.

The former Newcastle attacker will enter the final year of his contract in the summer.

Good move for Forest?

Is Ameobi really any better than what Forest already have?

The winger has definitely stood out among a bad bunch of players at Bolton this season, but that does not mean that he is good enough to play for a team that wants to finish in the top-six.

He has scored three goals and supplied four assists in 18 appearances across all competitions, but surely Martin O’Neill should be looking at better targets, especially when Bolton want £4million.

Likely to happen?

Bolton are bound to play hard-ball over Ameobi.

He is a key player for the Championship strugglers and they know that losing him will be a major dent in their hopes of avoiding relegation this season.

Forest are unlikely to pay £4million so we do not expect this deal to go anywhere.
