COMMENTARY
What a day it was for Newcastle United fans on Tuesday. First the reports arose about a potential record breaking deal for Miguel Almiron, which would have had the Toon Army delighted, before Sergio Aguero’s goal in the opening 30 seconds of the visit of Manchester City brought them crashing back down to earth. However the Magpies managed to pull of a real shock with a 2-1 win and many of the St James’ Park faithful were left head over heels with what they saw from young Sean Longstaff. The youth graduate has been thrown well and truly in the deep end this season thanks to injuries and other issues on Tyneside but was simply outstanding against some of the very best midfield talent the Premier League has to offer. If this is what Newcastle can expect from the youngster then they have one of the brightest prospects in England on their hands. Homegrown talent has been a real problem for the club in recent years and so it is no wonder the fans are loving every second of his growth.
This is Futbol has gathered a selection of the supporters’ tweets:
I know that there isn’t a World Cup this Summer, but they should organise one so Longstaff could get a late place on the plane #nufc
